Channels
#Mysticpub is a medieval fantasy role playing campaign based in 1406. MysticRPG has an adult based rated 'R' environment. We possess an interactive posting board, internet relay chat and much more to utilize all Role Playing experiences.
Your hostmask is how most bots and some services identify you on IRC. Unlike your nick, you can change only certain parts of your hostmask. An example of a hostmask is: user@slip-30.mci.net. Most channel bans use some form of your hostmask to identify you, and bots also use it to provide you with channel operator status in your channel. Most services identify you by nickname, however, which is safer and more reliable.
IRC
Internet relay chat. The name of the protocol clients and servers use to communicate.
IRC operator
An IRC operator or IRCop is a user that has been given special access by an administrator to perform certain duties such as enforcing network rules, helping users with lost passwords and making sure all servers are connected for optimal perfomance.
IRCd
Internet relay chat daemon. The server software for IRC.
MOTD
Message of the day. This is a message sent to you when you connect to an IRC server which usually contains information about the server, its staff and server specific rules and announcements.
Open proxy
A proxy is used to relay traffic from certain hosts to somewhere else, usually from an internal network to the internet. An open proxy is such a proxy that is not properly configured, it will relay traffic from anywhere to anywhere. Thus allowing anyone to access websites, send e-mails or connect to IRC as if they were actually sitting behind your computer. This is of course a bad thing. On IRC for example, abusers can simply connect through a proxy when they're banned, making bans virtually useless.
Oper
See IRC operator.
Services
A number of pseudo-users that can be used, for example, to register nicknames or channels. For a detailed description of our services, see the services command reference.
For those of you using mIRC: We would like to ask you, in order to assist SorceryNet in keeping an even load across the network, to upgrade to the latest version of mIRC (6.21), which is available from http://www.mirc.com/
