In order to continue providing you with the safest and most pleasant IRC experience we have expanded our security system to include the checking for open proxies on client connection.

For most people this won't change anything so do not worry!

Traditionally we've used DNS Blacklists which are checked whenever you connect to SorceryNet to see if your IP address has been used for abusive things in the past and if so it's banned. This affects a tiny number of people on SorceryNet and our KLine team help to work with those people who are 99.5% times innocent to rectify this with their Internet Service Provider (ISP).

We've now expanded this system to include checking for open proxy systems in addition to checking for DNS Blacklists entries which provides an additional layer of security and comfort for our users.

There's lots of information available at http://www.sorcery.net/proxy.html to help you understand these changes and we're more than happy to discuss them in #sorcery if you have any questions.

Note, this system whilst in testing will be regularly reviewed and monitored by our Security Team to ensure the results are accurate and should you have any problems please contact us!
